Track 04: Nobody Told Me

ACTION: The Record Store - Morning/Afternoon - Open

[All things considered, Yosuke is enjoying his new job at the record store, familiarizing himself with the music and keeping the records spinning. If you're in the market for some music, come on in and shop!]

ACTION: John Doe Park - Evening - Open

[Yosuke is sitting on a park bench, headphones on as he looks at the ground, despondant. He'd been wondering why he hadn't heard from Chie lately and wanted to make sure she was going to his (late) Birthday Party, so he'd gone after work in search of her.

He hadn't been prepared to see his friend all dressed up and flirting with the drone boys. No training, no kung fu, no arguing - done through and through.

He's not sure how to cope with that. He doesn't even know how long she's been this way. So he's simply sitting there, drowning his sorrows in the music and trying to cope with everything.]

"Maybe some day I'll get those things back and you can."

I don't think I'd mind a few more sleepovers in the meantime.

It was actually kind of nice. Not so much you tossing and turning, but the part where I had someone there with me.

I'd offer to let you share mine, but the zombie wife might not like that.

"Oh. I've taken to locking the drones in the house in the basement when they get irritating. I know it may sound mean but they just don't seem to remember."

I... I think I'd feel too bad, doing that.

She- she used to be one of us. You know. Not a drone.

"This is getting into the philosophy of what a drone is again, and I lack conclusive answers to that. All I know is according to Scott the 'mother' in my house has never been a drone and Tom locked himself in the basement all the time so its not that big of a change. Still, I can understand you position."

[He laughs a little]

I'm sure I'll outgrow it sooner or later. I just need someone to knock some sense into me I bet.

"Its not a bad thing not being used to it. It's almost a way we're dehumanized and I kind of hate it."

Oh... well then, I'll try not to get sense beaten into me. How about that?

[It's funny because he's going to get into a huge brawl with Souji and just doesn't know it]

"Getting beaten up is never a good idea. Its either painful, or eechi, or both."

I don't know, I learned a lot from the last big fight I had.

It ended in a tie though - I guess that's pretty uncommon.

"Most end with both sides loosing something so.. I don't see a tie as being a bad thing."

... well, I gained something, so it could have been worse.

"I had to do a lot of fighting at home... I just never much liked it."

I didn't mind, but I think our situations might have been a little different.

I don't think a military girl just fought a bunch of monsters.

"Depends on if you think a human can be a monster or not."

[His mind instantly goes to one asshole in particular and he nods]

Oh yeah. People can be monsters alright.

"Then I've fought my share of monsters."

[He's desperate to prevent this conversation from going back into depressing territory]

Hey, lets forget about that. Are you drunk again? You let me hug you in public and everything without saying a word.

[Congrats Yosuke, you got her to flush red with embarrassment for a moment]

"No... I'm not drunk... But, um, if you really want to. I'm just not entirely comfortable with very public displays like that."

[If only he'd meant to do that! Oh well, still awesome. He's not much for PDA either, but the park seems pretty empty... so he leans in and gives her a peck on the cheek]

Then if you want more than that, you'll have to get me somewhere not public.
