Do you train out here often?

[She eyes the park, wondering how a bunch of children running around and sparring didn't catch the attention of the drones.]

From:

[ Souji is running his hand through his hair, coming up next to Yosuke. ]

Nnn, another friend of yours, Yosuke?

From:

Actually, I'm just starting to get back in shape. I've been way too lazy here.

[He glances over at Souji and smiles at him]

Why not, Partner? She is now. I'm Yosuke Hanamura. You are?

From:

Riza Hawkeye.

[She bows her head politely.]

It's a pleasure to meet you.

From:

Souji Seta. Nice to meet you, Riza. Out for a walk?

From:

I come through the park on my way home from work.

[She smiles, gesturing at the dress.]

I was not a nurse at home, and to be honest I find this to be more stressful--a walk through the park helps clear my mind before I get home.

From:

Yeah? [He tilts his head quizzically, sizing Riza up. He's not sure what she would have been before, but that nurse's dress does seem off. Only one way to find out!]

So, what'd you do back home?

From:

An officer in the state military.

From:

You must be pretty capable with hand to hand combat too, then.

From:

Yeah! Why don't you show us some pointers? I bet it'll be more fun than doing a job you're not used to.

From:

Somewhat. Firearms are my specialty.

[She turns to Yosuke, as if contemplating his suggestion, and then nods. She quickly drops a hand to her side, feeling just to be certain beyond doubt that the safety on her pistol is on, before dropping into a more defensive stance that is definitely for combat.]

All right. What exactly would you like to learn?

[~~ooc: Aaaand Hawkeye's mun probably couldn't defend herself if her life depended on it so SHE'S GONNA WING IT XD~~]

[ The hand to hand combat Souji has little experience with. ]

... Anything you feel like teaching us would be appropriate.

From:

Yeah. I'm not used to trying to defend myself bare handed, so even basics would be great.

From:

[She looks a the two, and shakes her head.]

Unarmed, you don't want so much of your torso exposed. For starters, you need to turn slightly, keeping your dominant hand and shoulder in front. You're going to use the backs of your arms to protect yourself when someone swings at you.

Most importantly, you need to pay attention and move fast.

[~~And here is where Hawkeye explains more cool hand-to-hand combat stuff!~~ Enough chatter. She eyed the two boys.]

All right. Now give it a shot--try and hit me.

From:

[ Souji rubs his neck from where Shana just wrecked him with a mysterious attack that felt like she was chopping his head clean off. ]

This time, you first Partner.

From:

Right, how thoughtful of you Partner. Send the half cripple in first.

[He's honestly surprised he's managed to recover as much as he has from that shot to the the knee, but maybe he's just a quick healer today. He drops into a fighting stance, mimicking Riza's own as he tries to do this proper, swinging a right hook out at her]

From:

[Hawkeye watches them levelly, waiting for one of them to make a move. As Yosuke swung at her she twists out of the way, blocking his movement and catching his wrist.]

Don't be too predictable, now. You swung with your whole body, but you can get that strength just by using your arm and shoulder--and do so without making it so clear that you were about to strike with your right arm.

[She smiles encouragingly.] But that would have hurt, you are strong.

[ She seems normal. At least more normal than Shana. She wasn't suckerpunching Yosuke in the face, so he opts to stay out of this tango until she calls on him. He does learn, or tries to at least, studying Yosuke's swing, then reimagining him doing the same punch that their new instructor demonstrated. ]

[Curses, foiled! But this is much less tough love than from Shana - if he can even call it that - and the encouragement is enough to make him smile. Yosuke feels like he's actually learning something! He removes his wrist from her hand and turns a bit, practicing the motion - and eventually getting a little smoother.]

[She watches him move through the motion a few times, before nodding approvingly.]

That's much better.

[Don't worry, boys. She's not going to sucker-punch anyone; she's far more likely to use your lack of skill against you. Nothing personal. She looks to Souji, brow quirked as if to silently ask him if he's just going to stand there like a statue.]

[ Souji's deadpan expression melts under her gaze. He hesitates visibly for a moment then approaches coolly, shifting into a fighting stance. Maybe it's her military training cred that whips him into attention? Maybe it was him getting punched in the nads by the last person they sparred. ]

From:

Alright, let me try it again!

[So she knows it's coming but she doesn't know when it's coming! So he takes a stance facing her and then finally throws a punch - it's not perfect, but his form is improving!]
