Track 04: Nobody Told Me

ACTION: The Record Store - Morning/Afternoon - Open

[All things considered, Yosuke is enjoying his new job at the record store, familiarizing himself with the music and keeping the records spinning. If you're in the market for some music, come on in and shop!]

ACTION: John Doe Park - Evening - Open

[Yosuke is sitting on a park bench, headphones on as he looks at the ground, despondant. He'd been wondering why he hadn't heard from Chie lately and wanted to make sure she was going to his (late) Birthday Party, so he'd gone after work in search of her.

He hadn't been prepared to see his friend all dressed up and flirting with the drone boys. No training, no kung fu, no arguing - done through and through.

He's not sure how to cope with that. He doesn't even know how long she's been this way. So he's simply sitting there, drowning his sorrows in the music and trying to cope with everything.]

[ And time for Millie to get pouty. ]

But Millie doesn't have anything important to give when postman has Boneparte. Bonaparte is my bestest friend. That's why I want to get him back.

[Millie, you're breaking his heart]

You have other things he can take though. Like memories, I've heard.

[ SHE DOESN'T MEAN IIIT she really misses her little cutie. ]

But-- no one can take memories. Memories stay with you always because they're in you. [ She taps on the side of his head, lightly. ] In here, see?

[SHE'S JUST TOO CUTE. AND SINCERE. AND OH GOD IT HURTS]

Yeah... that's where they're supposed to stay. But I've died in this town and woke up just fine. That's not supposed to happen either, right? So I think that this place might be able to steal memories too.

[ Okay now, Yosuke, dying? That's just siiilly to the extreme! Millie goes blank face for a moment, tilts her head, but then... she gets it! not literal dying!! ]

You can't die and come back. That doesn't happen, hee hee. Even Millie knows that.

[He really has his work cut out for him here, doesn't he?

So he looks her in the eye and takes her hand without even knowing what he's doing]

Millie, I'm being completely serious. Somebody shot me. I died. And then I woke up in my bed. Not in a hospital or ina casket - in my bed. Without a bullet in me. Alive.

<small.[ He does! :( It's both weird and hard for Millie to comprehend - someone coming back to life! But she can tell how serious he is about this - about her not meeting with the postman, she thinks - so, after some silence... ]</small>

...okay, I won't talk to the postman. <small>[ Of course, she doesn't look happy about it. ]</small> I better tell my friend not to, either. She wanted to write letters to him.

And that was when you met with Souji-san and the others right? And try to figure out the problem of the midnight channel?

[Admittedly, she doesn't know too many details about it but ,then again, they don't know that much about them...]

[Well at least she won't do it, but now he went and made her all sad. That won't do either]

That doesn't mean you won't get him back though! Sometimes people just... get stuff back. I got these [he gestures to the player and headphones] back the other day and didn't lose anything.

[He nods]

Yeah, exactly. Trying to save people's lives was a great distraction from all the stupid things in the town.

[Minako paused]

But...[She had to be careful how to word this] did it mean anything to you?

[He doesn't want to answer - let alone answer honestly. He's quiet for a few moments before he sighs]

... not at first. The biggest reason I wanted to go back into the TV world was that it was something to do. But then I faced my shadow. [He's never actually told anyone about his shadoow. ANYONE. The only person who knows about it is Souji, so why does he feel so comfortable telling her?]

It basically called me out on being a bored jerk who just wanted to act like a hero. So after that, I tried to do stuff for the right reasons.

... and eventually, I got there.

[Minako had to wonder what he meant by his shadow. She knew that a shadow was the same as a persona but...now wasn't the time to ask]

But the important thing is that you know what you should do from then on. I'm sure that Souji-san and everyone else were proud of you.

[He can't help but chuckle]

Actually, no one but Souji even knew. He was the only one there, and I've never told anyone else.

... well, except for you.

[For a moment, she just stared at him. Then she couldn't help but smile]

...Thank you, Yosuke-san, for telling me this. For trusting me with something like this...

Well, I guess you just seem like someone I can trust.

[That must be it, because he can't think of a real reason he'd spill his guts like that. Still, he feels better after getting that out.]

Seriously. Thank you.

[Does Yosuke know about the wild card ability? She wasn't sure seeing that she never told her friends about it...and it looks like Souji never told him either]

It's no problem, I'm just glad that I could help out in someway. It's kind of funny...you remind me of someone I know about home.

Yeah? In a good way I hope.

Of course! His name was Junpei Iori. he was part of our gang when we were out defeating shadows! He was...one of my first friends [and social link] when I I got to Iwatodai.

Yeah? Sounds like he's someone special to you.

[He's looks up at the sky and smiles]

If that's the case, I can't say I mind the comparison.

Hm?...Is Yosuke-san ...jealous~?

What's there to be jealous of? You just told me you don't have a boyfriend.

Or were you just trying to let me down easy, Minako-chan?

Hm...maybe~

[She smirked at him.] I wasn't lying before, I really don't have a boyfriend! And never had one ever!

Yeah?

Maybe one of these days when you don't find me moping on a park bench, I'll have to ask you out. Then you can shoot me down properly.

Put some faith in me, I'm not that mean!

But...I would have to think about it though!
