Track 2: Well, this is awkward.

ACTION: THAT CAFE WHERE RURI WORKS

[Ever since waking up in his bed safe and sound, Yosuke has been more than confused. How can death really not matter? What can they do, when the town can turn people against each other so easily? Did he really take a bullet for Chie?

Wracked by confusion and uncertainty, Yosuke isn't sure where to turn. Souji is the obvious choice, but with Chie involved... he needs a little time before he seeks out his partner. Ultimately, he decides that the best course of action is to try and take his mind off of things for a while.

So, making good on his promise, he wanders the city until he finds what he thinks is the cafe Ruri told him about and walks in the door.]

Lets see, I think this is the place...

... I guess of all the questions I have, figuring out how a guy can embody a whole country isn't high on the list.

[Odd lines of electricity start dancing across Ruri's eyes and her hair begins to act as if there was no gravity as a large holographic display appears with.... Spec on the computer systems the UN is using in the 23rd century.]

"No, see, no need for any neural interfacing. Its just a point and click system. So that politicians can figure it out."

[Yosuke manages not to freak out - he's seen weirder things and they haven't exactly been having a normal discussion in a regular place - but his jaw still hits the floor.]

So... been waiting a while to use that trick?

"I got the feeling you thought I was taking liberties on the truth, so I figured I'd dispel that idea right away. I'm not a fan of anything less than the whole truth."

So you're really a princess too?

"My biological parents were the king and queen of a small European country. That being said, I didn't meet them till I was 12."

"It was interesting meeting them. It also was nice to know where I came from."

[She shrugs a bit]

"I was born and raised in a science institute, so I honestly didn't know any of that before."

You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but were you happy? As a kid? Or do you feel like you missed out?

"I never was a kid. I was a child, and there were happy moments, but it was all based on a lie. Then I was sold to Nergal to interface with Omoikane and go through the nanomachine experiments. I had no concept of even being a person till I was 12."

I... what?!

[Mind? Blown. Yosuke doesn't even know how to process this.]

You're joking. No, of course you're not joking. I... that... I can't believe...

"I was one of 20 artificially inseminated children rescued from a clinic that was destroyed in a terrorist attack. They chose to let us live, but that meant experimenting on our genetics. Accelerated neural growth, changing some genes to make us cancer resistant. It was all illegal research, but, I will say, it was preferable to not being able to live."

[He still can't his wrap his head around it. He understands the words she's saying, but he just cant comprehend that such a thing could really happen. What does he even say to that? He's silent for a few moments before he manages anything.]

For what it's worth, I'm glad you're alive.

[she smiles very slightly]

[It may not be much of a smile, but it still makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside. Still, he can't quite break the awkward silence that follows something like that normally. So he just blurts something out.]

Did I ever tell you about the time I went inside a TV with my friends and helped defeat a sort-of-goddess?

[She blinks, taking a second to parse that sentence]

".....No?"

[Now he looks quite proud of himself]

Alright! I knew I had something up my sleeve that could throw you off a bit.

[Mind you, she's still as deadpan as ever]

"Well, not really throw off. My world doesn't have magic, and I will for the moment assume that this is the result of some form of magic use, unless you are using the televisions as a dimensional gateway in which case it may be scientific based, but that would require several test cases to figure out and."

[She tilts her head a bit]

"Still, I have no reason not to believe that, even if from my own world's point of view that seems odd."

[He leans back in his chair a bit.]

You know, I almost wish I could take you home just to see if there really is any sort of science behind it. I'm not going to pretend that I really understand just how everything happened the way that it did. I think the abilities that I had were closer to magic than anything else, though.

"I honestly wouldn't mind going to another world. Mine is home but, honestly as long as I had Omoikane I could survive just about anywhere, and seeing a big forest or magic would be fascinating."
