Track 08 - I'll Be There

Hey guys, it's Yosuke. I just thought I'd check in, see how everyone's doing. I know it's been sort of rough lately, so...

[PARK - EVENING - OPEN]

[He's been coming here a lot lately. It really isn't a bad place to spend time. The park is usually nice and peaceful, and it gives him plenty of time to think. To reflect on his time there, to figure out what he wants, to try and piece together what bits he's learned about the town. Really, he can think about whatever strikes him that particular day.

Today it seems the focus is on himself - him, and the choices he's made recently and not so recently. Decisions he's made, decisions he hasn't made. Time he's spent waiting. Other people he's heard about. Is he really doing what's best? If he has to be stuck in this town, doesn't he deserve to be as happy as he can be? Is he doing what he can to that end? Is the road he's on the right one - hell, is it even going anywhere?

Too bad there are no easy answers.]

"Next time you come to the cafe then I'll show them."

Jeez, you just keep making the deal better and better. First a bikini, now a bikini and a show? I was going to go out in a little bit - are you working tonight? Or should I stop by tomorrow before I run my errands?

"I'm at work tonight and tomorrow. There really isn't a whole lot else to do."

Alright! I'll see you in a little while then. Count on it!

[She bows to Yosuke]

"Do you want your usual table?"

You mean the one where I bug the waitress to sit with me and keep me company? Yeah, sounds good!

[And wow he forgot how good that suit looked on Ruri, but he's sure as hell remembering now. And he's trying not to stare but it's just so hard.]

"That would be the one."

[She nods and leads him to the table towards the back]

[He takes a seat and has to continuously remind himself to be looking at the menu. She looks great and she always seems fairly happy to see him, and Yosuke has to admit that makes him feel a little warm and fuzzy inside.]

[And this is the girl he's not sure about? Is he insane?!]

I think I might actually get something to eat today - or do you have to cook it? Because I'd rather have you out here than back in the kitchen.

"No. I'm not the cook. I'm learning a little, but I'm not much of a chef."

Alright then, I'll take a sandwich and that tea. And the cute waitress to keep me company, but I think I already said that.

[He grins sheepishly, knowing he can't hide his blush or the fact that he's alternating between staring at her and trying so hard not to.]

So what's after swimsuit week? Some other theme?

[She takes his order and brings the tea from the back sitting down]

"It depends on how hot it is really. But since I only have two swimsuits it may be problematic if it doesn't change."

[She shrugs a bit]

[Hi there sly grin spreading across Yosuke's face]

Need help shopping for another? I wouldn't mind helping out. I used to work in a department store - I'm actually pretty good at that sort of stuff.

"Maybe... A lot of the ones here look kind of ridiculous, but, 250 years of fashion changes can do that. But... If you'd like to go shopping some time I wouldn't say no."

Hmm... actually, you're right.

We need to design one for you! Get it custom made so it looks even better than what you're wearing now. And trust me, that looks good.

"I like it. Though I wonder if white is a bad color given my pale skin. Though the only tailor I know is a pony."

[You were about to get complimented Ruri, but there is a more pressing matter now]

... a pony? A tailor that's a pony.

"Her name is Rarity. She's a newcomer. Very nice for a pony I guess.. But most of the ones I've met have been friendly."

Wait wait wait. A talking pony who makes clothes.

You're serious?

...

Of course you're serious.

"I don't make up stories. Especially ones that sound that insane."

Well, if she can't make clothes here then pony or not, she's out. I haven't heard from my friend in a while either...

Dammit. We might be stuck shopping after all. Though finding someone to do alterations might be easier than finding someone to make a suit from scratch.

"Still... Shopping can be fun I'm told."

[She ponders a minute]

"Excuse me for just a second."

[She gets up and heads into the kitchen]

[He's left a bit dumbstruck when she suddenly leaves, but it's all for the best - he'd been neglecting his tea, so he'll sit there and sip quietly while he waits for her to return.]

[She comes back and puts his sandwich in front of him]

"They have it down to almost a science how long it takes them to make one of these."

[Oh, right! Food! He ordered that! He'd forgotten between the sight and talk of Ruri in swimsuits. It's actually embarrassing, but not too embarrassing for him to take a bite]

Hey, not bad! Thanks, Ruri! If you're hungry, I don't mind sharing - or is that against the rules when you're working?
