Track 03: Happy Birthday, Yosuke

ACTION: 947 Beulah St - Morning (Housemate, anyone passing by who wants to check out the commotion)

[It hadn't exactly been a year since his last birthday, but today was June 22nd. He wasn't planning on making his birthday a big deal, but apparently the town had other plans - like having him wake up in yet another strange house. This time, though, there was a woman in his bed. Next to him. One that he had children with, if the photos in the room were to be believed. Some might call having a completely subservient woman in your bed a godsend - Yosuke was nearly as freaked out as his first day in the town. Not even bothering to change out of his pajamas, he scrambled from the bed and out of the room.

Which brings us to the current time - a confused Yosuke, sitting on the curb in front of his brand new house, trying to get a hold on his brand new adult life.

Happy 18th Birthday, Yosuke. Welcome to adulthood.]

Okay, calm down. That zombie... 'wife' probably didn't do anything to me. Probably.

[He groans]

So... this hasn't exactly been a normal day, but I guess there's not much I can do about it.

Anyone know a good place for a party? Might as well try and make today not suck somehow.

There are like, hundreds of different kinds! And special ones that come from people? How am I supposed to know what you want me to draw?

[His mind flashes back to Kanji's shadow as his face pales and his throat goes dry]

That bad, huh. ♪

[she seems a bit interested in his reaction. But she moves on.]

Okay, what about the biggest then? ♪

The biggest, huh?

[There's no way it'll turn out any good, but he might as well try]

Alright, get me a pen and paper. I'll give it a shot.

[roadroller]

Cool! ♪

[she finds these very fast. There's paper in the printer, and a pen on her desk!]

Here you go. ♪

[Crap, that was fast. True to his word, he works at a drawing for a few minutes. When it's done, it's a terrible drawing of this]

There, that's the best I can do. Happy?

[roadroller]

[she takes the shoddy artwork and seems to study it... dang, that's a lot of arms.]

Yup, I'm satisfied....

Though to be honest, I believed you a long time ago, but it seems like I can depend on you for doing dumb things for me.

You're off to a good start in the big brother department! ♪

[As Yosuke realizes he got played, all he can do is laugh]

Damn, looks like you got me. Guess I'll just be glad I make a decent big brother.

... And as for this, I think there's some room on the fridge. ♪

As long as you don't put a big A or a smiley face on it, I think I can live with that.

You're also not my mom, and you're talking about putting my drawing on the fridge.

Actually I was just curious how drone!Roshian will react to her fake husband's drawing on the fridge... ♪

Roshian? Was that her name?

[It's weird to think about his family as former regular people. And incredibly sad.]

What... what was she like?

[roadroller]

[Rin's gotten used to it so the sting is mostly gone, and luckily she didn't know any of her housemates that well.]

Well, she was the country of Russia personified as a lady. ♪

[He's already heard about Japan, so he's not as confused as he could be]

That... tells me everything and nothing all at once.

Sorry... I didn't actually know her that well. We only lived together for a few weeks before it happened, and it seemed that the family was having some big problems. So I tried to stay out of their businesses.

The one time we hung out together, it was a New Years party, and I was human, and the orange juice was actually screwdrivers, so I don't remember much of what happened. Except that her cooking was extremely good. ♪

Ouch... sorry, I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories. I was just curious.

It's pretty easy to think of them as just zombies and forget that some of them used to be people too.

[roadroller]

It's not that bad. I regret not getting to know them a little more, but that was so long ago, I'm sorta used to it. But the least I can do is remember their names and stuff.

Your other teenage kid is a country too. He's Latvia, but he goes by Raivis as a human.

I have nooo idea who the third kid is though. He just showed up when Luke went back to normal in another house. ♪

Two countries and a mystery drone, huh?

Well, guess I better start throwing my fatherly weight around. We don't want them complaining about our new stage, right?

[roadroller]

Mhm, do your best! ♪

... Oh, speaking of Latvia though... his real brother, Estonia, lives right next door. I told him he could come over whenever, so keep that in mind. ♪

That's fine, but how many countries are even here?

... I can't believe I just said this. "How many countries are in this town?"

[roadroller]

Yeah, it definitely sounds weird grammatically. ♪

There's a lot of them from what I can tell, but I don't think they brought the whole world yet. ♪
